It is hoped that these webpages will encourage good practice among clinicians aiming to collect, record and analyse speech to a high standard and in similar ways, wherever they work. Ideally, clients' speech will be recorded at the same ages using similar equipment and settings and specifically constructed speech material. It will then be possible to use the data collected for meaningful and reliable research and audit projects.  The data from different cleft centres will be comparable - even across languages if the recommendations are followed.
